Virtual Care

Blog · March 31, 2020

Like many local business, we have closed our doors to promote social distancing and encourage our staff and community to stay at home. We also know that the aches and pains won’t magically disappear after a few hours of Netflix 🙂 . So, I wanted to let you know about our new Virtual Care option which is a great way to get started or continue with your rehab goals.
I thought I’d answer some common questions I’ve been hearing in case you are wondering what Virtual Care is all about.
What is Virtual Care?Virtual care uses video-conferencing technology from your smartphone, tablet or computer to connect you with me from the comfort of your own home. It is a way of providing safe and effective physiotherapy assessment and treatment services when in-person care is not possible.
What can I expect during a Virtual Care Session?I will ask you questions about your conditions, assess your mobility and create an effective treatment plan you can do at home. We will go over your custom exercise plan together so I can guide you to make sure you are doing it right. I’ll also send you an e-mail with your exercises so you know what to do until our next session.
Is Virtual Care right for me?Virtual Therapy can help with most injuries and conditions, though there are some limitations so not all conditions will be appropriate. Are you wondering if virtual care is right for you or if you have the right technology? I’m offering free consultations to allow you to ask questions, test the technology and discuss the best treatment options for you
Is Virtual Care covered by my insurance? Do you offer direct billing?More and more insurance companies such as Sunlife and Canada Life have informed their clients that virtual care is covered. I would recommend contacting your insurance provider to determine if virtual care is covered. Yes, If your plan allows for direct billing we’d be happy to do that for you
How do I know my Virtual Session and information is private and secure? We offer Virtual Care services through Jane, the same Canadian-owned company that we use for online booking. Jane’s platform is encrypted and compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements, so you can rest easy knowing your personal health information and data from your Virtual Care session is never recorded or stored. I will always work from a confidential, private setting so you do not have to worry that anyone will overhear or see our session.

Our clinic is NOW OPEN for IN-PERSON treatments for NEW & EXISTING PATIENTS!

To ensure your safety, and the safety of our staff these are the procedures we will have in place.

All patients will be required to fill out a COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire prior to all appointments.

We will be limiting the number of patients allowed in the clinic at the same time. Everyone will be separated into private treatment rooms to maintain safe distancing. We will sanitize and disinfect each room and treatment table after each visit.

Staff will wash their hands frequently throughout the day and always between patient interactions. We will also ask patients to sanitize their hands as they enter and leave the clinic.

All staff will wear masks and we will ask all patients to wear masks while in the clinic.

A plexiglass shield has been installed at the front desk to maintain a safe barrier between patients and front desk staff when booking appointments or paying for their visit.

To limit the handling of cash we will continue to provide direct billing as well as ask patient to pay through contactless tap, email money transfer or safely store your credit card on our secure system.

We will still be offering virtual treatments to access care from the comfort of your own home if you would prefer that.
